Michelle M. Wright

Michelle M. Wright is the Augustus Baldwin Longstreet Professor of English at Emory University, where she teaches courses in race, gender & sexuality in the Black and African diasporas. She is the author of Becoming Black: Creating Identity in the African Diaspora (2004) and Physics of Blackness: Beyond the Middle Passage Epistemology (2015), as well as co-editor of a number of volumes on race, gender, and sexuality, including Domain Errors! A Cyberfeminist Handbook (2003), and Blackness and Sexualities (2007). Professor Wright has also written for popular media, including The Los Angeles Review of Books, the Chicago Tribune, and The Root. Her current project, Afroeuropolis: Constructing Europe in the African Diaspora, looks at how Black writers from the Americas, Western Europe and Africa have theorized Europe over the course of 250 years.
