In this desktop-based video diary, Chloé Galibert-Laîné tries to make sense of her fascination for Penny Lane's film The Pain of Others from 2018: a found footage exploration of how a mysterious skin disease called “Morgellons” has spread via the circulation of YouTube videos in which patients exhibit their self-diagnosed symptoms. Narrating the filmmakers' intellectual, affective, and bodily experiences, viewers of Watching The Pain of Others are invited to reflect critically upon their own spectatorial mechanisms and intimate responses to online audiovisual media.
