Yvette Mutumba
Yvette Mutumba is co-founder and editor-in-chief of the art magazines Contemporary And (C&) and Contemporary And (C&) América Latina. She is currently also a guest lecturer at the Institute of Art in Context at University of the Arts Berlin. Yvette was part of the Curatorial Team of the 10th Berlin Biennial for Contemporary Art (2018) and visiting professor for Global Discourses at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (2017 – 2018). 2012 to 2016 she worked at the Weltkulturen Museum in Frankfurt am Main, where she co-curated the exhibitions Foreign Exchange (or the stories you wouldn’t tell a stranger) (2014), El Hadji Sy: Paintings, Performance, Politics (2015), and A Labour of Love (2015-2016 and 2017, Johannesburg Art Gallery). Mutumba studied Art History at Freie Universität Berlin and holds a PhD from Birkbeck, University of London. As author and editor she has published numerous texts and books on contemporary art from various perspectives. Her most recent publications as a co-editor include I am built inside you (Sternberg Press, 2017) and We don’t need another hero. 10th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art (Distanz Verlag, 2018).
